Hello Cheekies

Enjoy and Have a Cheeky Day

Stay Cheeky Our Loves

The Journey to loving myself.

Hello Cheekies!

It’s  Sam,
This post today took a lot of courage for me to muster up. I’m going to talk to you guys about my weight loss transformation. This post isn't to convince you to lose weight; this post is about loving yourself.

Growing up I had always had weight issues, when I was younger my family would brush it off by saying, “Oh its baby fat; you’ll grow out of it.” Or “You’re just big boned.” Those were said to me so I wouldn't be self-conscious as a child.  Those words shouldn't have been said to me as a child. I didn't know I had a weight issue until those were said to me. That’s when my self-confidence started to crumble.

My weight didn't really bother me until I was in Middle school. I was far heavier than all my friends. In the summer time I would hide under a towel while my friends would swim in their bikinis. The only form of exercise I had at the time was competitive swimming. I was really good at it too! I probably would have lost a lot weight if I didn't get McDonald's milkshake after each practice which was three days a week. At School  I felt like such an outcast. I would cry myself to sleep almost every night while I was in middle school just wishing and praying that I would wake up and be thinner. Each morning I woke devastated because I was the exact same.

In ninth grade, I was pushing 170 lb. Now  170 pounds is not a lot but for my stature and body frame it was a lot. I’m only 5’ 1” so  being  170 pounds  was not healthy. I was borderline over weight. I wore XL shirts and size 16 pants. By this stage in my life, I hated myself. I was depressed, I was lonely. Now when I say I was lonely I don’t mean that I didn't have friends. I had a lot of friends but they had no idea what I was going through. When I would bring it up they would brush it off and say “You’re not fat” or “You are just over reacting.” So I felt so alone.

(This was me in ninth grade 2009 at 170lb).

It wasn't until I was in 11th grade that I finally decided to do something about my weight. I was still about 170 pounds give or take a few. I was tired of being unhappy and absolutely hating myself. I was tired of spending hours in front of the mirror just picking out every flaw. So I started working out at Curves. After about a month a curves, I dropped two whole Pant sizes. It was one of the happiest moments I had in a long time. I could finally buy new jeans! Yay! I kept at curves every day. I soon joined a strength training class that really kicked my ass. The first day I did it, I threw up! (Gross). But the way my muscles felt the next day was sadistically rewarding.  I continued with that class and about a month of that I was down to a size 13 Pants! I was so excited. I was starting to feel confident. And eventually me and the Lady that taught the class had personal training sessions. After several months of hell and serious mental abuse from my trainer I was finally down to 142About a thirty Pound weight loss in a year, I was so excited.

In 2012 I soon decided  I had reached my limit of weight loss with curves. A few things came up and it just wasn't going to work. So then I decided to buy Jillian Michael's Thirty day shred and workout in the comfort of my living room. And It definitely shredded my ass. It was so hard and even though she was on TV, she was still scary as hell.  About a month of that I had lost another Ten pounds. I was at about 130 YAY! I felt so good. I was in a size 9/10 pant.  I felt pretty which was a first in six years.lessened my workouts because I was so caught up in the last bit of my senior year, ranging from an extremely lame prom to a lame graduation but I did maintain my weight.

(This is right before Chums and I very lame prom in April 2012, at about 132lb)

Summer had finally come, I still wasn't in a bikini but I did feel a lot better about my appearance. College was coming and I wanted to pick up exercising again so I wouldn't  gain the freshman 15. So I did Yoga three times a week. YOGA IS HARD! But very relaxing.  I didn't lose any weight but I toned up a lot. I was now in a size 7/8. Whoop Whoop. I couldn't remember a time when I was that size. It had been so long.

School has taken a lot of my precious time with its annoyance and homework. So I really didn't workout much these last two semesters. But recently I started walking up our local mountain with my mother. I’m now at 125 pounds. I wear a Medium in Shirts, and a 6/7 in pants. HELL YESS!   I still want to tone up for the summer and finally wear a bikini which is something I haven’t been able to do since I was six.  But the important thing is I LOVE MYSELF NOW! Looking back there were so many times where I should have done something but I think the way this has happened has taught me so much. I finally made myself Proud.

This is me today, 125 Lbs!

I never imagined ever getting to this point but I just want to say. I DID IT! If you feel like losing weight is what you need to do then I just want to say You can do it. It's not impossible. Impossible really just says I'm Possible. I just want you guys and others to love yourself. I've spent so much of my life hating myself, missing out on fun activities because I was scared of judgement. I do NOT want you guys to feel like that ever. So do what ever makes you happy and love yourself.
I might have spent the last 8 years miserable and hating myself but I still have the rest of my life to be happy and to love myself.

So Cheekies that was a summary of my journey to loving myself. If you have any questions or anything at all comment or just email me, the email is in the contact tab.

Dressing up a t-shirt

You can still be comfy and look cute at the same time. I (kylie) have a lot of t-shirts that i never know what to wear with besides jeans and flats. Pairing a simple top with leggings can make the outfit look a hundred times better and more dressy.
I got this shirt from, of course, Papaya. It could be worn during any season. You could wear it in the winter by simply putting on a cute leather jacket.

Adding high heels can dress up the t-shirt even more.
These velvet black heels are from Charlotte Russe.

A big ring finishes it off.
Me and Sam both got this lace ring from Wet Seal.

Now you can wear a t-shirt whenever, and still look like you took forever getting ready. Knowing what to pair a shirt with can change the entire look.

Self Esteem& Happiness

Hello Our little Cheekies!

So you know those days where you just feel so very blah, ugly and kinda heavy? Well I, Sam, am having one of those days. So I thought I would share with you lovely people on how I boost my self esteem back up and feel happier! I don't do every single thing in one day that I am going to list. Its just things in the past that have helped.

No. 1- Workout.

I don't do any extensive workouts like insanity or anything but I do little workouts I find on Pinterest or I just dance around my bedroom to fun music. Anything to just get those oh so wonderful Dopamine chemicals going. Dopamine is a wonderful little chemical in the brain that makes you happy and gives you a feeling of reward. Nothings gets your self esteem up like feeling rewarded!!

No. 2- Paint My Nails

I find when I concentrate on something other than how i am feeling my mood lifts a bit. Nothing takes more concentration then painting nails, well for me anyways. And besides nothing makes me feel better then seeing flashes of bright funky or soft pastels when I do something with my hands.

No. 3- Trying different Makeup looks

Recently I joined the Lipstick club, thanks to my chummy and Co Blogger Kylie. I always see her with bold fuchsiay plum lipstick and I think "Damn, I want bold lips!"  And ever since I started wearing it, I've felt like I could take the whole world on. Weird, I know. You are probably thinking "How can something as simple as lipstick make you feel so wonderful." For me, its just feeling like something so important as the mouth being so bold and bright, people think "She has so much confidence ". It makes me feel really happy.

No. 4- The outfit

You have probably seen this adorable outfit on our Blog that Kylie posted yesterday. She got this adorable outfit at Papaya (i'm gonna steal her clothes...shhh don't tell her) . She mentions in her post that Every girl should have that one outfit that they feel amazing in. Well Cheekies, everything she says is so very true. If you need a little pep in your step, put on that one outfit that makes you feel KickAss! I always put on something that i feel so amazing in even if I am just sitting on my bed not really doing anything. The outfit is key when you are feeling a bit glum and you are suppose to go somewhere... you probably have tried almost everything and nothing seems to be working but then you find that one shirt or skirt or pant or dress that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That feeling is your self esteem bubbling up. The kickass outfit= feeling kick ass.

No. 5- Music

Music is very important to Kylie and I. We always send each other songs that we find relate able to our moods. Music is so influential, it can change your mood dramatically. When I feel bummy or having no self esteem I listen to songs like "Girl put your records on" By Corinne Bailey Rae, or anything Regina Spektor. The one song I found that always puts me in a better mood Is the one that is right above this. Its called "Keep your head up" By Ben Howard. I just love the lyrics and the funky down to earth beat.

No. 6- Talking with your Best Friend

Talking about how you feel to someone you trust helps tremendously. I talk to Kylie all the time and I sometimes feel like I get extremely annoying but she always tells me that I am not and gives me great advice on issues. Having your best friend always being there for you adds a bit of confidence because you will never have to do anything alone and you will ways have some one there. I'm not sure what I would do with out Chummy, I don't want to think about it. But her friendship helps me a lot in life. So this is probably the most important thing I've listed.

Now Cheekies,

Those were some of the things that I do to put me in a better mood and to give me some confidence. I hope this helps you and if there is anything that you do to help your mood or self esteem liven up comment and let us know. I would love to hear them!

New Dress

Every girl needs a new outfit once in a while. Don't feel bad for spending money on yourself. It's good to have one day that you can pick a super cute outfit that you feel pretty in.

I absolutely adore this dress and entire outfit I got today at Papaya. Let me just say how I pretty much love everything in Papaya, and even though their clothes are extremely cute, it's not expensive!
The dress is a light pink with a see through back.
It was only $19

I also got these black pointed flats, with silver studs on the back
They were $15

This elegant necklace finishes off the outfit.
It was just $4
As you can tell you don't have to spend much on an outfit for it to look expensive.
Knowing where to shop is key and can save you money in the long run.
I hope this helped you,

Just a little reminder!

Hello Our Cheekies,

Winter seems to be the season where everyone's moods seem to sink and we all feel kinda bummy. Maybe some of you feel like life is a little or very hard because its not going how you would expect it to, and maybe you sit there and think "How will I ever get past this?" Well Cheekies, you aren't the only ones. Everyone faces something they think they cant handle but the truth is, you CAN. You just have to have faith that everything will get better. This is a reminder that you are in fact strong enough for whatever comes in your life, good or bad.

Everyone faces different challenges. These challenges may seem like a horrible thing but in actuality they are shaping you into the person you were suppose to be. They also remind you how strong you really are. YOU ARE STRONG. And We also know that everyone has insecurities, its a part of life. We as individuals need to learn to love those insecurities! Just because we don't like the way we look, or speak or our smiles doesn't mean that there isn't a person out there who loves those exact things about us. Learning to love yourself is the biggest, most satisfying feeling ever because finally you can accept yourself as the amazing person that you are. Do NOT let someone tell you that you aren't amazing or special because you are. YOU are one of a kind, a rarity

Another thing that seems to make people a bit sad, is worrying. Worrying takes up so much of your heart and mind that you forget how to live and how to enjoy your day. What a lot of us seem to worry about is how our life "needs" to be. Well let us some it up for you lovely people, YOUR life needs to be exactly how YOU want it to be. Don't let the social norm kill your dreams and notions you have about how your life should be. You know the things that you have experienced and the trails and joys of your life, that is what shapes you. Each person is different; each person wants something different in life. Do what makes you happy in life, not what everyone wants from you because they don't know who you truly are. We make our own futures!

So Our Little Cheekies, Remember you are amazing
and repeat this everyday. Let this become your Mantra.

About Us

Hello, our little Cheekies,
We thought we would let you guys know more about us. Our names are Sam (left) and Kylie (right)  As we said before we are 19 years old. We live in a small boring town and we strive to get out and see places far far away from here. Our dreams to some are unrealistic but to us they are achievable and we started to blog so we can share with people that dreams can happen but you must go out and do it yourself. So this blog will have a lot of talk of dreams and inspirational quotes, but it will also have music and fashion, and much more. Our friendship is unlike any other in the sense that we find very unlikely things funny. We can have fun doing just about anything ranging from sitting on our butts to going driving in the car for hours not really going anywhere. Sometimes, most times, we think we are twins because we know what the other person is thinking and we can finish each others sentences. We would describe our friendship like Zoella and Sprinkle of glitter (Zoe & Louise). We like to make things and people feel very awkward. We are very cheeky and we love rapping in our spare time. As you can tell we are very random. We are also very very very picky about the things we don't like. Growing up we have never really fit in where we live. We have always had the urge that we were meant for something far more than anything here.We are horrible about making little decisions but we know how we want our lives to be which is fun and exciting,. So 2013 is our year to accomplish as many of our dreams possible, ranging from getting our own place to traveling to different countries. So we want to take you guys on our journey to achieving the life we were suppose to have.
